Zelda is the kind of dog who makes people smile without even trying

She’s a 1 year old, Golden Retriever, and one of the happiest, most genuine dogs we’ve met. She carries her toys everywhere (as many as she can — three is her current record ), greets you with a full-body wag, and has this goofy, joyful energy that somehow makes even the hardest days feel lighter.

We’ve said it more than once — there’s no staying sad around Zelda.

Zelda does have hip dysplasia and an upcoming consultation (likely in Minneapolis) to determine if she’s a candidate for surgery. If she is, she will return for surgery and will need a home where she can properly rest and recover.

But that doesn’t define her.

She still runs, plays, and lives life like any young dog. If you met her, you wouldn’t assume anything was wrong — she’s just happy, loving, and full of life.

Zelda absolutely loves other dogs. She currently has a best friend, Pinky, and the two of them are inseparable. They go on walks together, go to stores together, and even sleep together sometimes. When we take them out, it’s clear how much Zelda relies on him — she always wants to know where her big brother is.

Because of how much she thrives with him, we do feel Zelda would do best in a home with another dog.

Right now, Zelda is looking for a foster-to-adopt home — someone who will bring her in now, support her through her medical journey, and love her enough to keep her forever.

She adores people, is incredibly affectionate, and just wants to be part of a home. At this time, a home without cats is recommended.

Zelda deserves a home that sees everything she is — not just what she’s going through
