Adopting

Bubbles

Available for Adoption
Introducing Bella/Bubbles
This sweet girl is a French Bulldog. She is 8 years old. Like most Frenchies, at least the ones we have had in rescue, she has some medical issues. Bubbles’s owner ended up being hospitalized and did not make it back out. When we first brought her into our care, she couldn’t walk. Now she loves to walk, can go upstairs but not down, loves car rides, cuddles and sleeping with her human. Bubbles gets along with other dogs and cats. She does not like to share her food and when snuggled with her human she doesn’t like other animals to take away from her loving time. Her ideal home needs to understand that her condition will not get better and in fact, may worsen with age. The adopter needs to understand her condition; Degenerative back issues in dogs, such as degenerative myelopathy (DM) and intervertebral disc disease (IVDD), cause progressive weakness, paralysis, and potentially incontinence, and while there’s no cure for DM, treatment focuses on managing symptoms and maintaining quality of life. This may mean that although she is currently house trained, she may require diapers if her condition worsens. If you want to fully adopt Bubbles you must have an in town vet. However, as she has a clear medical diagnosis, we as the rescue are prepared to keep her on under our vet. In doing so, the adopter would be a permanent foster. In this case, the foster will agree to cover day to day food, treats, etc and the rescue will cover all medical expenses. I have had the pleasure of fostering special needs dogs and it is so rewarding. Please consider adding this sweet girl to your family.
